The platform · For colleges, banks, training institutes and learners
A virtual bank training platform: one working bank, front office to balance sheet.
TrezCap is a virtual bank training platform. Inside it is FinTreasury Bank, a fictional Indian bank that works: its dealing room quotes and books deals, its branch opens accounts and sends payments, its credit desk lends, and its risk and compliance teams watch the limits. Learners take the seats in that bank and do the work, with the controls a regulated bank runs every day. The platform calculates every figure; the learner takes every decision.
What the virtual bank has inside
- Treasury, FX and the money market: a dealing room for USD/INR and other pairs, forwards, swaps and options, call money and repo funding, bonds and G-Secs, and ALM and liquidity, with the LCR to keep above its floor.
- Branch and core banking: bank-style branch screens with customer records, short screen codes, specimen documents, account opening and KYC, deposits, loans, NEFT, RTGS and IMPS payments, vouchers, and an end-of-day run that will not close while work is unverified.
- Credit: working capital and term-loan appraisal, credit committee, loan classification and early warning.
- Corporate treasury: a corporate client’s side of the table: cash position and forecast, funding and debt, investments, hedging and stress scenarios.
- Risk and compliance: limits and exposure, market risk and VaR, Basel capital, AML monitoring and surveillance.
The whole transaction life cycle
A deal in FinTreasury Bank does not stop when it is booked. It moves the way it does in an Indian bank, with each stage marked as front office, middle office or back office and kept apart:
- Front office: the client’s request, the quote, the limit check and the booked deal.
- Middle office: positions, limits and risk, and the independent check on the desk’s P&L.
- Back office: validation by a second person, confirmation with the counterparty, settlement instructions and settlement.
- Accounts: the journals reach the ledger, and from there the P&L, the balance sheet and the cash flow statement.
That is the part much training leaves out, and the part new joiners often find hardest: what happens to a deal after the dealer puts the phone down, and how a small mistake on the ticket becomes a failed settlement or a wrong figure in the accounts.
The controls of a real bank
Every approval follows maker-checker: the person who enters a deal, a payment or an account cannot also approve it, so learners practise both seats and catch each other’s errors. Desks work inside limits, and the bank keeps an audit trail of who did what and when. The rules are based on RBI practice and Indian market conventions, and the regulations and sources behind them are listed on the Sources & References page.
One platform for every kind of learner
A business school uses the bank for a semester of banking and finance papers, with cohorts, assignments and a capstone its own faculty grade. A bank’s L&D team or a BFSI training institute uses it to onboard and assess batches before they touch a live system. A student or early-career professional uses it alone, with Professor Owl’s voiced classes and the AI coach Trezi. Everyone works in the same virtual bank; faculty and trainers follow their own class or batch.
A training environment, on simulated data
FinTreasury Bank is fictional, and so are its clients. TrezCap is not core banking or treasury software and is not connected to any real bank, market or payment network: prices are simulated so a whole class sees the same numbers, and nothing placed here reaches a market. That is why it is a good place to get a decision wrong and learn from it.
